The Comeback Club: Bridging the Gender Gap in Workforce Reintegration

Hurricane, WV - The Comeback Club, an initiative of the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce and the Putnam Chamber Network of Women, is on a mission to transform the landscape of workforce reintegration for women. With a vision of fostering a future where career breaks no longer pose barriers to professional success, The Comeback Club is dedicated to bridging the gender gap in employment and leadership roles.

Despite great strides, women still face significant challenges when reentering the workforce after taking career breaks, often resulting in setbacks in their professional trajectories. Factors such as caregiving responsibilities, family commitments, and personal development endeavors can interrupt a woman's career progression, leading to gaps in employment and a loss of confidence.

The Comeback Club recognizes these hurdles and is committed to providing comprehensive support to women navigating their return to work. Through a range of resources, guidance, and mentorship programs, The Comeback Club aims to empower women to confidently reintegrate into the workforce and reclaim their positions in leadership and decision-making roles.

"At The Comeback Club, we believe that every woman deserves the opportunity to thrive in her career, regardless of any breaks she may have taken along the way," said Ashley Alford Glance, President of the Putnam Chamber, "Our mission is to dismantle the barriers that hinder workforce reintegration and create a more inclusive and equitable environment where all women can flourish professionally."

Through partner organizations such as Marshall University CORE, Putnam Adult Education Center, Putnam County Library and Dress for Success River Cities, The Comeback Club offers tailored resources and support networks designed to address the unique needs of women returning to work after career breaks. From resume workshops, skill-building sessions to networking events and mentorship programs, in addition to  job placement assistance, participants receive personalized assistance to re-enter the workforce with confidence and competence.
